Debarpita Roy is a Fellow at ICRIER. Her research focus at ICRIER pertains to India’s contemporary urban issues. She is a PhD in Economics from Centre of Economic Studies and Planning (CESP), Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) and a MA (Economics) from Delhi School of Economics, DU. Her doctoral dissertation empirically analyses aspects of urban India’s housing demand. Previously, she worked as an Assistant Professor at the School of Real Estate, RICS School of Built Environment, Amity University and as a Consultant with NCAER. Her industry experience includes working with JLL, an international property consultancy firm in their Consulting and Research division as Manager (Research), building up a Pan Indian real estate database. She has published papers in international journals of repute and presented her research at several international conferences. Her broad research interests encompass regional and urban economics, real estate economics, economics of housing and infrastructure.
